June 12th, 2016 The RUN is 30 out of 30 Weeks.
Waist high or better at least once a week.

We had waist to chest high waves June 6th-7th, & 8th, 2016.

The M&M video clip. And...Hillary and Trump? Holy crap.

The last few years I have been kicking around this idea of making a longboard movie about Mikey Moran and Mikey Evans. I didn't want it to be contrived as anything but a natural surf session, between two great local longboarders. The problem was, I could never get the two of them in the water at the same time when I was packing. Oh for crying out loud, NO I don't mean packing a weapon, I meant packing my gear. My camera gear. Imbeciles.

Any way, on June 6th, 2016 (The anniversary of D-DAY June 6th, 1944) they both showed up at The Wall during this perfect waist to chest high swell. The surf was I deal for longboarding. And here they were. Together. In the flesh.
Carrying longboards. I almost couldn't believe it.

Now like most of my clips, there is no script. We go by what the day offers and what comes out of our mouths. Kind of like Donald Trump only not as nasty. But you get the idea. Raw. As it actually happened.

Anyone who reads this blog knows that I have many times over, named all of the good longboarders we have here in NH. And believe me (insert Donald Trump finger), we have some real talent. I am not going to name names here, because I've done that in the past. If you want to see if I named you knock yourselves out. Just hit the archives tab and read em all.

But again, by longboarding, I mean walking to the nose and back. Cross stepping all the way. We have many who ride a longboard (like myself), who do not walk to the nose and back, but rather just surf and cruise. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You are in good company.

I am talking about the traditional, and contemporary way, to ride a longboard.

These guys can do that. For as long as I can remember, Mikey Moran was steadfast in his longboarding style. I can't tell you how many times I would paddle by him as he did some timeless, drop knee turn, then race down the line pulling into a little tube, then the drop knee cutback, and take a cross stepping walk to the nose, and back. He was connecting the dots, during a time when longboarding had taken a back seat to, shortboard surfing.

That took courage to go against the grain of what all your peers were doing.

Watching Mikey Moran surf was like taking a ride in the time machine to a forgotten era. Joel Tudor had nothing on Mikey Moran.

Now Mikey Evans? Well he sort of snuck up me. One day he was riding shortboards with his peeps, then I saw him (at a distance) and he was surfing on a longboard reminiscent of Mikey Moran. I couldn't believe it. And he wasn't just goofing around. He was serious. Dead serious.

And really, that's what you have to be to surf in that style of longboarding.

And this guy would know that.

Kevin Grondin is one of the GOOD longboarders we have here. And any advice he gives to any surfer at any age should be taken seriously. Trust me, he knows more than you think. And he's easily and eagerly accessible to chat with you. In person only. He is old school when it comes to computers and smart phones. Just as well. Talking surfing requires certain hand moves. Like the one he's showing Mikey Moran here.

Check out the video down in the video section. If you like longboarding, you'll like it. If not? Well there's a bunch of shortboard clips as well.

This race for the White House? Have you ever seen anything like it? I mean honestly. Have you ever seen anything closely resembling this circus? And it now appears, that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will be facing off come November. Watching Barak Obama on Jimmy Fallon the other night (I can't believe I'm saying this), I actually would prefer another 4 years of Obama than either one of these two clowns. It's true. And I'm not alone.

This is the best caricature I've seen to date on this man. I suppose the only saving grace is, the comics, the illustrators, as well as the photoshop wizards will have a field day on either one. I guess that's semi good news for me.

Hell this witch could scare small children and puppies. Am I right people?
These are your choices. Personally, I am refraining from voting this year. I can't in good conscious vote for either one of them. Sorry.

OK check this out. Seacoastonline did a story on me and the blog.
Just click on the pic below and look it over. It's pretty short, so most of you
can handle it. Besides, it's just a different perspective of someone you

I have always liked Matt Colby's style of surfing. He's got some great moves both on his front side and his backhand. Plus he has a nose for the barrel and the stomach for busting airs.
Ed would always point his camera at Matty if he was out.
I'm sure Matt is glad that he did.

To see more of Ed's pics just scroll through the archives. He has shot so many pics for the blog. Be sure and pick up a copy of the COLD COAST and check out Ed's own gallery.
Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog. Photo by Ed O'Connell

The Dan Healy Foundation is something worth learning about.

This is priceless. This is a Patriots fan posing with the devil himself Roger Goodell. This should be framed. Big dope Roger had no idea this was happening. Ha!

This guy should get seasons tickets. You got my nod.

Now for Some More Of My Weekly Global Observances

OK this tale of two Judges is not going away anytime too soon. The "Mexican Judge that TRUMP says is being unfair has created a firestorm. Same with the Judge in the Rape case.

What kind of justice is this? This is unsettling at best. How can a 75 year old veteran be serving a life sentence with no parole for growing pot plants behind his son's house? While this spoiled brat gets a slap on wrist for raping a woman (ala Bill Cosby style) . I mean come on.

KSM Photoshop of the Week
Now I had to do this. The actual Judge that TRUMP is calling a "Mexican" is from Indiana. Hell, our boy KSM looks more like he's from "South of the Border" than that judge. Am I right here people? Damn straight I am.

As always... take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

*Note to self must pick up a case of beans at Home Depot

M&M D-DAY JUNE 6th, 2016 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

For the last two years, I had wanted to shoot Mikey Moran and Mikey Evans. But I could never get them in the water at the same time. This day June 6th, 2016 also happened to be the anniversary of D-Day June 6th, 1944, when by total happenstance, they both showed up at the Wall. So I took advantage of the situation and put this clip together. Originally, I had wanted to do a longer feature, but with today's "spit 'em out as fast as you can" edits, I opted for the get it out while it's still fresh. M&M are joined by Kevin "Doc" Grondin and Kyle Linseman. Proof that we in the Northeast have a whole bunch of talented longboarders. The song is by one of my favorite bands in the late 70's.
"Gut Feeling" by Devo.

The Long and The Short Of It D-DAY JUNE 6th, 2016 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

I shot this on June 6th, 2016. The anniversary of D-Day June 6th, 1944. This is the sister video to the longboard M&M clip I shot on the same day. This is all shortboarding. It's featuring Kai Nichols and Mackey V and a few others. Like Lars Jacobsen and Brian Tabor. I chose the man Jimi Hendrix for the soundtrack. It's under 4 minutes. Hope you like it. June 6th, was quite a day here. And it sure as hell was quite the day on Normandy Beach in France in 1944. God bless them all.

Behind The Scenes Of Flat Feet Productions
from Flat Feet Productions on Vimeo.

Its summer, the waves are small and there is a lot of bullshit going on down here. Buckle up, Summer 2016 is going to be lit AF.

SEE YOU OUT IN THE WATER

This short 4 minute clip was shot a summer or two ago. And it was shot all on my GoPro Hero II. The problem with water photography is you have to be sitting on the surfers to get a decent shot. So I was limited out there. Plus I wasn't wearing fins. I know, I'm stupid. This was like I said a year ago. I have since started wearing fins.
The surfers are: Kevin and Kody Grondin, DJ Sparks, Mike Stanek, Toby Parke, and Ryan Jackson. I used a Prince song. You know, because it was time. Check it out

No Pro Just Locals 5-10-16 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

After shooting a handful of pro longboarders a few weeks ago, I knew I had to shoot some of our own Non Pros. Though two of the very best were not in this clip (Mikey Moran and Mikey Evans) but I got plans for those two. My MIKEY and MIKEY video is coming soon. But back to this baby. The two standouts are Kyle Linseman and Pev. These guys have honed their craft of longboarding to an art form that would make any fan of longboarding smile and nod. There are others as well. Billy Ritchie, Julie Jakoboski, Jared Hay, Hannah Vokey, Skip Brunette, Rick Evans, Sam Vokey and Ken Linseman. The music is a Bryan Ferry remix. *Be sure to watch past the credits, and of course watch it in HD.
